Hi, thought people might be concerned to hear about this...from the Trojan website: "Singer, arranger, producer Larry Marshall has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. If that's not bad enough, he has limited funds to get treatment in the USA where he lives. What to do ? Well I've opened up an auction on the Blood & Fire board to take bids for the following bundle of three titles on CD: ~ Laurel Aitken - Woppi king - 20 tracks like 'Jesse James'. ~ Derrick Morgan - Derrick-top-the-pop - 20 tracks like 'Moon hop'. ~ Lloyd Charmers / Hippy Boys - Psychedelic Reggae - 22 instrumentals. All are Early / Skinhead Reggae from 1968-70, are legitimate releases (not bootlegs) & retail for around £12.99 each. How much do I want ? A min. bid of £9.00 for the three (+ P&P) ! What do you do if your interested / have further questions ? E-mail a bid to me at charlie.reggae@btinternet.com with your board name, your actual name, your bid amount & surface mail address. Be quick, as the auction closes 18:00 Hrs 08/08/2003. Thanks in anticipation. Charlie Reggae PS. If you have one or more of the titles (on Trybute) then why not do your bit, by giving testimonials to the musical content, by replying to this thread." [Orignal message from Motion Records] Larry Marshall, one of the founding fathers of reggae, has prostate cancer. Having never reaped the rewards his career deserved, Larry has had to earn a living by working on building sites in Miami. He is not critical and is receiving treatment. I feel it's time to let him know that he is not forgotten. We are auctioning two items for Larry, with more to come in three weeks (after my honeymoon). The auctions end quite soon (13 hours from the time of writing) so please don't delay. 1. A white label test pressing of 'I Admire You In Dub': http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1512142493 2. W/L T/P of 'The Sound Of Channel One: King Tubby Connection': http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1512143456 Larry would certainly sign these items if you can send them to him. Acquire either of these items and you not only help Larry but you also obtain a collectable item. In addition we have had quite a few emails from people who want to donate to the fund (or send money to Larry directly) including one very generous offer of $250.00. Others have posted much smaller amounts, but they are still VERY welcome. Larry and Mary have been very moved to know that people still care. You can either send donations via Paypal (if they are members) to paypal@motionrecords.com stating that it is for the Larry Marshall appeal. You can also send cash ($ or £) to us at: 46a Crockerton Rd London SW17 7HG UK They can also send £UK cheques written out to 'Motion Records Ltd' to the above address. Or you can send us $US cheques written out to 'Franklyn Marshall' for us to pass on. Letters to Larry will also be passed on. Or if people prefer they can send the money directly to Larry. REMEMBER, EVEN $1.00 WILL HELP !
