As activists worldwide gear-up for the "Millions for Mumia" demonstrations set for April 24, here is an update on the Reggae Free Mumia cd (visit http://trr.hypermart.net/). Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band have sent a review tape of "What a System" from their forthcoming 2 cd set. This is a killer roots rocking Gladiators-style tune showcasing this talented band at their best. Lance O. of Kulcha Shock Muzik has sent a review tape which includes "Wrong Babylon" by Cool Breeze and Natty Remo. This is a rub-a-dub cultural dancehall song with Garnet Silk-like vocals and a hot-like-pepper d.j. flavor. THC is in the studio in Hawaii doing vocals on their tune before the final mix. Quino, from Big Mountain, will re-record "Right to Live" with his new rhythm-section with overdubs planned for hornsmen Kevin and Jerry. The Revelations, newcomers from San Diego, are in Quino's Centro studio recording "Rebel Music for the Masses" , a bi-lingual one-drop song sung and penned by Panamanian-born lead-singer Elijah. Ras Shiloh will be at Centro studios in early April laying the vocals for "Set Him Free" with music by Brian Jordan featuring the bass of Bunny Mystic. Wadi Gad, drummer extraordinaire of Boom Shaka, will be sending "Wanted", a rebel tune from his forthcoming cd. Peter Broggs has pledged the use of any of his songs already in release. Prince Jazzbo has already donated Horace Ferguson's great song "Great Stone". Sis. Carol is sending an alternate mix of her militant "Black Man Time". Other artists/groups who have either committed themselves to the project or have expressed an interest in submitting a song include: Cocoa Tea Jr. Reid Don Carlos Twinkle Bros. Foundation Boom Shaka John Brown's Body All submissions are requested by the end of April 1999, and should be sent to: Trade Roots Reggae 3804 Rosecrans St. SD, CA 92110 The Paras Group, distributors of the Reggae Free Mumia cd, will be on the TEVA Spirit of Unity tour this summer.
