New Book On Reggae From Chuck Foster Of The Beat Magazine Greetings from Chuck Foster, I host Reggae Central on KPFK - 90.7 FM in Los Angeles from 3-5:30PM on Sundays, and write the Reggae Update column for the Beat Magazine. I'm writing this to let you all know about my new book. It's titled ROOTS ROCK REGGAE:AN ORAL HISTORY OF JAMAICAN MUSIC FROM SKA TO DANCEHALL, published by Billboard Books - ISBN: 0-8230-7831-0. It should be widely available (major chain stores and independents throughout the U.S.) by the time you read this or very soon thereafter. The book compiles interviews done over a ten year period for The Beat and other publications. Interviews include Tommy McCook, Desmond Dekker, Ken Boothe, John Holt, Johhny Clarke, Horace Andy, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Luciano, Admiral Tibet, Michael Rose, Juior Reid, Sister Carol, Alpha Blondy, Lucky Dube, Ras Michael, Buju Banton, and dozens of others including groups like the Meditations, Itals, Wailing Souls, and Black Uhuru. Seperate sections cover Bob Marley and the Wailers, dancehall, dub, poetry, international, and instrumental reggae and early dj's. There's a chapter devoted to Reggae in America--to my knowledge the first such--as well as brief summaries of hundreds of singers and groups, an extensive selected discography and photographs throughout. One Love, Chuck Foster RAW #128
