Greetings,

The recent passing of the an anti-rave bill, attached to amber alert 
legislation, is a bad omen for all major reggae festivals in California,
like ROTR, SNWMF and the Monterey Bay Reggae Fest.  In brief, the bill threatens
event promoters with prison terms and huge fines if drug use is tolerated and 
wide spread at their events. 

This could very well spell the end to these types of events...this is not a
trivial matter. 

You can thank Sens. Dianne Feinstein(Calif-D) and Gordon Smith (Ore-R) for 
co-sponsoring this legislation, put forth by Senator Joseph Biden(Del-D). 
Imagine, some Senator from Delaware sneaking this bill thru congress
without debate, telling us in California how we can live our lives...shame on this 
clown. 

How it impacts ROTR and other major Reggae Festivals we will have to wait
and  see, but from what I know of the legislation, these festivals would be
prime targets for a crackdown by federal authorities.
